In I Like Girls, four women reveal the nitty-gritty about their first loves, sharing funny and intimate tales of one-sided infatuation, mutual attraction, erotic moments, and fumbling attempts at sexual expression. For them, discovering that they’re attracted to other women comes hand-in-hand with a deeper understanding of their personal identity and a joyful new self-awareness. See the film here.
Filmmaker Bio:
Diane Obomsawin is a Quebec cartoonist and animator of Abenaki descent. A master of storytelling and framing, she has made a name for herself worldwide with her uniquely naïve, minimalist style and her distinctive creations: human characters with animal heads. I Like Girls marks the eighth collaboration between this talented filmmaker and the NFB.
“I think that virtually any of the drawings in Diane Obomsawin’s animated film I Like Girls would make a great pin. But for me, the one moment that captures “Love” with a capital “L” most beautifully is when you see the pupils of the character’s eyes turn into hearts at the sight of her beloved. It makes you wish you could be her and experience that moment yourself. ” – Marc Bertrand
